The Jewish Sound is a brand new entity that will provide Jewish communities throughout the Puget Sound region with news, information, an events calendar, and connection. The Jewish Sound will consist of a website, email newsletters, social media, occasional print, and a few other surprises.<\/p><\/li>
We are a grassroots group of community members who saw a gap in finding out what\u2019s going on in the region, as well as connecting with one another. Our leadership team includes former editors and publishers of previous iterations of Jewish news in Washington State. We are not affiliated with any other organizations, Jewish or otherwise. This independence gives us the ability to report on the hard stories that occasionally emerge in our community as well as keeps us from being beholden to any one agency or viewpoint. Our application for 501c(3) nonprofit status is currently in process.<\/p><\/li>
As we mentioned above, a lot of people have long felt like they don\u2019t know what\u2019s happening in their Jewish community outside of their own synagogues or organizations. We\u2019ve seen a lot of people who call themselves October 8th<\/sup> Jews, and seek connection where it may not have felt necessary previously. Many more struggle to even find entry into the Jewish community so they and their kids can interact with other Jews. Others want to figure out how to access the rich Jewish culture our area has to offer. Or they want to find out who in their peer group may have passed away. All of this has been missing for the better part of a decade, and we now want to bring it back.<\/p><\/li> We are, first and foremost, an online endeavor. That means you\u2019ll be able to find up-to-date events, timely news articles, and the stories of the people and organizations who make up our community. While the majority of the Puget Sound\u2019s Jewish population lives in Seattle and its nearest suburbs, we intend to reach as far south as Olympia, as far north as Bellingham, to the Cascades headed east, and toward the islands and peninsulas to the west. All this information will be as personalized as possible so you don\u2019t have to go searching for what\u2019s happening around the corner from you. Finally, we are continuing to establish our editorial guidelines, which will be posted on our site as we complete the first iteration and continue to evolve them.<\/p><\/li> For now, right here. We plan to launch at the end of 2026. By signing up in the form above you will be the first to get updates on our progress.<\/p><\/li> There are a number of ways you can help out. We\u2019ll be seeking qualified writers, podcasters, and videographers as we get closer to launching. We\u2019ll be looking for volunteers to help out with events and community gatherings. We will be reaching out to local businesses large and small to sponsor us and advertise.
